Julian Assange Released from Prison

Walk-free for the First Time in 12 Years

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will walk free for the first time in 12 years after a US judge signs off on his release. Assange, who has been held in London's Belmarsh prison since 2019, is expected to travel home to Australia after his release.

Guilty Plea in US Deal

Assange plans to plead guilty in a deal with the United States allowing him to go free years after publishing classified documents on WikiLeaks. The charges relate to WikiLeaks publication of almost half a million classified US military and diplomatic cables in 2010.

Assange's release comes after a long and controversial legal battle. He was arrested in London in 2010 and fought extradition to the United States for several years. In 2019, he was sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for breaching his bail conditions. Stay tuned for the latest developments on Julian Assange's release.
